If You Choose Organic Rice, Eating It Alone Can Satisfy Many People

Eating alone won’t be lonely anymore!

Eating organic rice may make us feel lonely, but when we consider the cosmos surrounding our plate, we can find solace in the knowledge that our meal provides “fullness” for countless others.

First, let’s talk about our diet. It is safe to consume organic Hom Chui rice. Since there is no possibility of chemical residue from cultivation, it is completely worry-free. You won’t have to wait to find out if the package contains a spray to keep moths at bay. Because rice is the main ingredient in nearly all of our meals, we are more likely to gain weight from eating it. Every meal can be prepared with the peace of mind that comes from using organic rice, whether you're eating it yourself or feeding it to your family.

However, there are more than just those of us sitting at the dinner table. As an added bonus, when you buy organic rice, you're supporting farmers who are devoted to protecting the integrity of their rice fields rather than cutting corners with chemical fertilizers, which would increase yields without much effort on your part. Growing organic rice is thus 'difficult work' that necessitates time, attention, dedication, and perseverance because, while expenses such as fertilizer, medicine, or doctor fees can be reduced due to deteriorating health, caring requires more energy. With less yield and no market to support it, farmers who try to convert their fields to organic may be unable to compete and must return to using chemicals. So, when people like us choose to subsidize organic rice, we are encouraging farmers who want to change to continue on a difficult but more sustainable path. Because if you farm organically for a long enough time, the ecosystem will restore itself, increasing yield and making the farmer less tired.

And when the ecosystem surrounding the rice fields improves, many lives will be satisfied, including shrimp, shellfish, crabs, fish, birds, and crows that live in the chemical-free rice fields. Although some of them enjoy competing for rice in the plot, if the balance is properly managed, there will still be good produce for us to eat, and insects and parasites will arrive to help maintain the area’s balance.

Thus, our abundance benefits the small animals that live in the rice fields and contributes to nature’s gradual recovery.

But this story will never be happy, 'full' Ding, if the organic farmers do not have a group of farmers with the same ideology. The Suthirat Yoovidhya Foundation addresses this issue by encouraging farmers to learn the proper methods, assisting farmer groups in becoming entrepreneurs, and serving as a liaison with the Salana organization to subsidize them by purchasing in advance through the
Salana brand. The farm guarantees that every plot of produce will have a market for it, as well as advance payment to allow the farmer group to easily cover necessary expenses, such as the cost of seeds or production inputs. They also encourage the formation of groups to further their entrepreneurship or provide funding if the group has a common goal of making organic farming more sustainable, such as achieving international certification standards, expanding internationally, developing innovation, and so on. If you have strength and a good (sustainable) plan, the Foundation is ready to help you get started.

I tell this long story to demonstrate that eating alone and feeding a large number of people is neither an ideal nor a dream. If we see the same picture and help each other fill in the gaps.

For the sake of a happy ending where “everyone is full,” we eaters would like to see more people switch to organic foods.
