The Elephant Conservation and Environment Foundation, Mae Taeng District, Chiang Mai Province, is a non-profit organization working for the conservation and protection of elephants through education and research into elephant well-being, providing care and assistance to sick elephants, retired elephants (old elephants), disabled elephants, and other animals, including a campaign to encourage the next generation to see the importance of elephants and the environment.

The spread of COVID-19 has an impact on the tourism industry, which is the primary source of revenue for elephant camps across the country. This results in a shortage of funds to provide food and medicine for elephants and other animals cared for by the Foundation.

Suthirat Foundation Support Budget for Project Implementation On July 6, 2022, “Foodbank for Elephant” presented a donation of one million baht to the Elephant and Environmental Conservation Foundation in Mae Taeng District, Chiang Mai Province, with Mr. Saengduan Chailert, President of the Elephant Conservation Foundation, as the recipient. The funds will be used to construct plots to grow food for elephants, retired elephants (old elephants), and disabled elephants (sick elephants), thereby reducing the burden of primary expenses on elephant and other animal feed purchases. Furthermore, it encourages community participation, creates jobs and generates income for the community through the planting and cutting of Nepia grass, and reduces the problem of wild elephants destroying the community’s agricultural land.
