Distributed 2,000 Thai Encyclopedias to 200 School Libraries

Two thousand Thai Encyclopedia Volumes are in 200 School Libraries

... Even in this day and age, we have instant access to a wealth of information via the internet. If you want to know something, you can easily look it up online. However, research has shown that the benefits of reading books are more consistent with brain activity, resulting in better understanding and connection to stories in books than reading on a screen. The touch of paper, as well as the ability to open and read page by page, remains a necessity for modern children.

However, due to educational inequality, many rural schools still lack the funds to purchase outside reading materials, particularly Thai encyclopedia books that contain basic knowledge that every child should have access to. The Suthirat Yoovidhya Foundation has collaborated with the C.C.F. Foundation for Children and Youth, under the Royal Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, to launch a project to support Thai Encyclopedia books for children and youth. The goal is to provide opportunities for learning through books that promote brain development, build knowledge and understanding, and instill a love of reading in modern children. It also encourages them to feel free to study and research information that interests them, whether it is basic knowledge in everyday life, understanding of science, stories in the context of the country, the diversity of society, culture, history, the environment, the economy, and so on, appropriate to the age of the children and youth on school grounds.

And now that the project has delivered all 2,000 encyclopedia volumes to school libraries under the care of the C.C.F. Foundation for Children and Youth, all 200 schools in 21 provinces across the country, and children who have access to the world, this book has reached 15,768 people. All schools were chosen from small schools that have a need and are eager to encourage students to use these encyclopedias creatively. It is not a gift to keep hidden in the closet without first introducing it to the children.

We have faith that the sent encyclopedia will be well-received by the returning students and librarians.
